With the rapid development of computer technology and aerospace measurement applications, the aerospace measurement and control systems have changed from single manual functions to the multi-functional automation, and distributed measurement and control system applications in the network are also becoming more and more. Due to the emergence of various applications, the old measurement and control system must extend the functions. The existing measurement and control system doesn't have the ability of self-identification and plug-and-play. So it has to modify the applications when need to add new devices. And it is un-convenient for maintenance or expansibility.UPnP is an architecture for pervasive peer-to-peer network connectivity of intelligent appliances, wireless devices, and PCs of all form factors. It is designed to bring easy-to-use, flexible, standards-based connectivity to ad-hoc or unmanaged networks whether in the home, in a small business, public spaces, or attached to the Internet. UPnP is a distributed, open networking architecture that leverages TCP/IP and the Web technologies to enable seamless proximity networking in addition to control and data transfer among networked devices in the home, office, and public spaces.Based on deep investigation on the basic concepts and principles of UPnP technology, this paper tries to achieve devices plug and play in the measurement and control system, and then the monitoring system could identify the new devices adding to the system network automatically without system applications modification. It not only decreases the complexity of coding, but also increases the flexibility of the system, and it has great significance in the development of applications of measurement and control systems.Firstly, this paper discusses the basic principles, main network structure and the protocols in UPnP, and then analyzes the working process in UPnP network in detail. Secondly, this paper analyzes the components of measurement and control system, and summarizes the specific assignments which are needed to be done to achieve plug and play target, and then introduces the architecture of devices and monitoring system implemented by UPnP. At last, this paper designs and implements the modules of device and monitoring system, which the development SDK is provided by Intel Corporation.
