UPnP is a protocol based on standard communication protocols, which is designed for peer-to-peer connection for intelligent appliances, wireless devices and PCs of different sizes and outlooks. This protocol focuses on offering a Standard and smart connection for household, small company, public places and many other unmanaged networks, with agility. However, as UPnP technology is based on TCP/IP protocol, it doesn't support handhold device to connect UPnP network. All this limits its further development.This thesis aims at combining UPnP system with Bluetooth based TCP/IP network, and implementing UPnP control point in Symbian environment. A solution is provied to resolve how to access UPnP network for UPnP handhold control point and how to find and use the UPnP services provided by UPnP network. Further more, APIs are reserved for advanced UPnP applications in the furture.By testing the packets sended and received in Bluetooth based UPnP system and analying the packets data, this thesis shows that the system is compatibale to UPnP standard and can satisfy the requirments. Totally speaking, the thesis includes the following parts:(1)By combining the theoretical knowledge with experiment experience, we did a researched on the UPnP system and Bluetooth based TCP/IP network system, established the framework of Bluetooth based UPnP for handhold device system and refined the design and function of every part.(2)By comparing the differences between POSIX C++ and Symbian C++, we impliment the UPnP control point in Symbian Series 60 environment, and resolved the problems of threads programming and socket programming in source limited devices.(3)By testing and analying the packets transported in UPnP system, we tested the system's compatibility to UPnP standard.This thesis proved the feasibility of combining UPnP with wireless technology through implimentation the UPnP control point in Symbian Series...
