Instrument fault monitor and diagnosis technology is the key technology, which keep the huge Mechanical & Electronic instruments in safe status. A net-based Fault Monitor and Diagnosis system is particularly necessary in large scale industry field. Traditional net-based Fault Monitor and Diagnosis systems are mostly designed on Server/Client architecture. Although such kind of systems can also monitor many instruments simultaneously, the variety of net architecture, such as adding and removal target instruments or monitor PC, will result in heavy net configure work.On the other hand, different sorts of instruments may be monitored in industry field, so monitors should deal with all kinds of Parameter Configured Tables (PCTs). However, it' s very hard to maintain and update PCTs in traditional Server/Client net-based Fault Monitor and Diagnosis systems.In this dissertation, based on lots of investigation and analysis of the internal and overseas Fault Diagnosis System (FDS) technologies and Instrument Fault Monitor and Diagnosis (IFMD) apparatus, a UPnP-based instrument fault monitor and diagnosis system and several relative protocols are introduced. The main contribution in this dissertation are listed as follows:1) Investigation on industry background and fault diagnosis technology is done. And after comparing with several pop network middleware technologies, UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) network middleware is discussed in detail.2) A UPnP-based instrument fault monitor and diagnosis system is introduced and its architecture and main function have been designed. Three modules of system (Device Data Collecting Model, User Monitoring Model and Data Storage Service Model) have been implemented.3) Two key protocols of system are put forward: MDTP (Machinery fault diagnosis Data Transfer Protocol) and MSCP (Machinery fault diagnosis System parameters Configure Protocol). And the main components of system (communication components and data management components) are also accomplished. Data flow mechanism, PCTs updating mechanism and event notification mechanism are also analyzed in detail.4) Several hardware platforms are realized as data acquisition end of target device. The MSP430-based hardware platform is described in detail for instance.Thanks for government supported 863 fund (2002AAlz2308).
