3D reconstruction from medical images is an integrated application of computer graphics and image processing in biomedicine engineering. The reconstruction technique consists of a series of theories, methods and techniques, applying computer graphic theory, image processing technique, computer vision theory and human-computer interacting technique to transform the medical image data to graphics and images, which can display on computer screen for interactive processing. It is an important role in biomedicine engineering.The implementation of three-dimensional reconstruction system from medical images is mainly studied. Based on the study of the techniques of 3D reconstruction, we analyze the VTK (Visualization Toolkit) and ITK (Insight Segmentation and Registration Toolkit) and QT toolkit. Then we design the medical image reconstruction system (MRS) with the principles of design pattern. MRS is an object-oriented and flexible system, which combined many different open resources and expanded the function in some arithmetic. In this paper, we also study and compare different 3D visualization arithmetic, and bring forward a precise measurement for 3D volume.The 3D visualization algorithm is divided into two parts: surface rendering and direct volume rendering. The surface rendering extracts surface from 3D volume data, and uses traditional graphical technology to display. The volume rendering takes the data as a whole to show. In this dissertation, the texture mapping algorithm, ray cast volume rendering algorithm and the marching cubes surface rendering algorithm are introduced.We bring forward an improved measurement for 3D volume. By using a clipping plane which is vertical with the Z axis to lock the depth-data of the 3D measuring operation, worked together with a measuring buffer which increases the measuring speed, we accomplish 3D measurement by using 3D clipping and rotation operations.
