Wireless Mesh Network (WMN) goes by the name of the wireless edition of Internet. With some unique advantages, it has become one of the potential technologies which could construct B3G/4G, and it is currently the only feasible technology to construct commercial mobile Ad hoc network. IEEE 802.11s draft is one of the criterions what WMN can follow, and it defines the function, interface and network protocol for WMN.Along with the increase of access information demand for public information network when users take trips by train or highway, the mobile vehicle access support capability of exist information network is limited. Therefore users' requirement can not be satisfied. Especially when high speed tour train and luxury tour train are more and more popular, information system mobile access technology must be improved. There are several access technologies of mobile train in public mobile communication network and railway special mobile communication network. Through schemes comparison, wireless broadband access technology which is based on wireless mesh network technology is adopted in this thesis. Based on IEEE 802.11s draft, mesh protocol framework is defined under Linux operation system, and wireless mesh prototype system which is applied to special application scenarios such as railway and highway is proposed. Network performance is tested under practical network scenario. The results show that the designed prototype system has reached the application requirement of dedicated WMN.In the 1st chapter, basic knowledge of WMN, application scenario of dedicated WMN and related technologies, structure of the thesis and primary work are introduced. The basic requirements, main technologies and methods of dedicated WMN are discussed in the 2nd chapter. And some theories and important technologies that need to be deeply investigated in dedicated WMN prototype system are introduced. In the 3rd chapter, mesh protocol and mesh frame structure are defined. Routing method based on layer-2 tree method and fast handoff method based on layer-2 are proposed and described in detail. In the 4th chapter, designing procedure of mesh protocol under Linux operation system is described. The designing method of wireless network card drivers under Linux is introduced, and performance testing of the designed archetype system is presented.Finally, the thesis is summarized and the future work is brought forth.
