IP Multicast, which can use bandwidth effectively by sharing the links, is a very suitable for the transmission of multimedia data. The traditional IP multicast base on the service model of best-effort, and have no commitment to the QoS (Quality of Service) of IP packets, therefore cannot satisfy the different demands of users. So, the IP multicast needs to combine with a more efficient technique.Differentiated Services, DiffServ, provides services from the up layer by behavior aggregates (BAs). Multi-Protocol Label Switching, MPLS, maps the BAs of DiffServ into different labels in the lower layer, and protects the transmitting of QoS. So it will have very good future for IP Multicast in network of DiffServ over MPLS. But the integration of the technologies brings new problems also. This paper is to probe into these problems. This thesis begins with the basic concept of IP multicast, and studies the key technique of multicast, MPLS, DiffServ and the support for IP multicast. Then it analyzes the advantages and problems while combining IP multicast with MPLS and DiffServ. This paper proposes an annular management strategy for multicast tree in MPLS/DiffServ network, which sets off the backbone, and choices manager node in each area and make them to ring, in which the control and drive carries out by Token-ring. The result of simulation indicates that this tactics can have an effect to resolve problems, such as overload and the drop of the information of Multicast Tree. Finally, it is discussed that the path recovery in the strategy. And the result of simulation of the path recovery indicates that the mechanism is suitable for the management strategy.
