Due to rapid development of Chinese railway industry, higher and higher requirements have been put forward on functions of rolling stock running on existing lines. Requirements proposed on productivity of running locomotives should be improved further as well as application efficiency of locomotives should be advanced, which all need to promote locomotive informatization completely.Locomotive state monitoring,intelligent diagnosis and maintenance & support system have been studied and designed according to General Planning for Railway Informatization. Information acquisition, record and diagnosis of locomotive informatization business including safety, application, maintenance, dispatching, statistic, supervision etc by means of study and design the system and onboard information system and devices will be realized. Onboard corresponding human-machine interface, wireless communication connection between train and ground, ground data reception and processing system connecting with ground control system should be studied and designed as well.Firstly, this thesis studies and design on whole scheme of locomotive state monitoring, intelligent diagnosis and maintenance & support system. Afterwards, it deep studies and discuss on system structure have been conducted. The functions and operating principle of onboard information subsystem & human-machine interface, vehicle-ground communication and ground information processing subsystem have been expounded. Hardware system of onboard information subsystem has been designed. Hardware which adopts microcomputer system based on PC104 bus realizing onboard embedded system, hardware functions on information collection of locomotive digital and analog signal, serial communication, intelligent power consumption measurement and ground detection have been studied and designed. Onboard communication software based on RTX51 and onboard fault diagnosis & logging software based on WINCE have been studied and designed as well. Onboard human-machine interface and software function & interface of ground information disposal have been studied also. Now, the locomotive state monitoring,intelligent diagnosis and maintenance & support system this thesis studied and designed have been applied to electric locomotives and locomotive depot of Xi'an Railway Administration and Lanzhou Railway Administration presently.
