Workflow-based Business Process Management System Design And Development

In the times of increasingly fierce competition for market, the commerce circumstance which enterprises face, with the demands of customers, is continuously changing while the life cycles of products are continuously shorten by the continuous technology innovation. To survive in such an external environment full of constant competition and changing, enterprises have to change themselves for what their needs with continuous adjusting and optimizing the business processes of various business processes. Workflow technology, through separating business logic rules from enterprise's function, greatly enhances the flexibility of application procedures, enables enterprise to accurate and convenient use of information technology to accelerate business process reconstruction as to achieve effective and orderly management and highly flexibility.Based on the workflow technology, this paper prominently upgrades the process management to a higher level than the information management. Heading on the marketing business process in marketing management centre of Chengdu King Vehicle Ltd., through the establishment of the business process model based on Petri Net, a business process management system supporting the management of business process is designed and developed, which better meets the needs of the department's business management and achieves the goal of materializing enterprise's business process management information.In the paper, firstly the history of the workflow technology development of is reviewed, while the recent research trends domestic and abroad are introduced, and the related concepts is outlined, as well as the classification of workflow management system and the workflow management system design concepts. Secondly, by the way of actual investigation and analysis of the target system's organizational structure and business processes, the establishment of the process model of the system based on Petri Net theory is accomplished, with the completion of the transformation from the actual business process to a formal definition computer can handle. Then on the analysis of the reachability and soundness of Petri Net model's structure, the correctness of the model is discussed and later verified. Thirdly, on the research of the workflow reference model brought up by Workflow Management Coalition and its main component, the overall structure of the marketing process management system is designed, which defines the design objective, as well as the scope, network system and runtime environment of the system. Finally, the system's functional modules are designed in detail, while through the establishment of the Concept model of modules'database and definition of the relationships between the entities and related data types of the attributes the various detailed functional modules are completed, which thus complete the entire system.During design and development, based on Petri Net the process model is described in Microsoft Visio 2003, and then verified by the reachability trees and coverability trees algorithm. ERwin4.1 is applied as the database modeling tool, while SQL Server 2000 is used to manage the system's database, as well as the application of Microsoft.Net as development environment which is object-oriented.The system almost achieves the department's process management, and effectively improves office efficiency and heightens the management level. Through the research of workflow management system, a kind of methods of designing and developing process management system based on workflow technology are concluded.
