Object-oriented Technology In The Engineering Database Applications

Object-oriented model is based on object-oriented design methods, and the model is the core of object-oriented thinking. As it simulates the way of human-thinking, the structure and procedure of programs consist with its description of the real world. That is to say, it fully ensures the consistency on concepts between the computer field and the problem domain. It also has strong ability of expression and abstraction on some non-traditional data fields such as CAD/CAM, engineering, multimedia, and other complex data fields.In this paper, we begin with an application project in engineering field, which is related to the object-data modeling, make a solution on how to manage object models dynamically, using the graphic user interface to abstract the real world and create, modify or update the object model, storage model document. It is also the basis of transformation between object model and relation model. It includes following features:(1)Construct the custom object models with flexibility; identify attributes, behaviors of objects in the system and the relations between objects .The next step is to find a language mechanism to express them, so as to establish an engineering database to satisfy user needs,.(2)Make use of object-oriented technology to develop database system, embodies the abstract data, information hiding, the principle of modular development and improve the quality of the engineering database.(3)On the basis of theoretical research of the Object-Oriented Analysis (OOA), the object-oriented design (OOD) and object-oriented programming (OOP), analysis abstract data model, build specific data structural model for the system, to some certain level and inheritance, provide the calling interface for bottom-layer, to realize the mapping to relational database.The paper introduces the object model management, object-relational mapping and engineering database technologies, and do research on the design and realization of an application system. Finally, we discuss the issues need to be improved of the research in the future and make a conclusion.
