In the recent years, embedded system is widely used to deal with and control somekinds of signals in the field of intelligent devices and industrial control. With thedevelopment of Ethernet, Ethernet begins to infiltrate to the layers of process control andfield facilities. In the field of factory automation control system, the remote monitoring andcontrol system through Internet makes the whole factory network become highly unified,open and transparent. Elevators are necessary in tall buildings. The application ofembedded technology and Remote Control technology through Internet on elevators canapparently improve the quality of the products and service.In the paper, we study and develop an integrated system used on elevators. Thesystem combines the functions of multimedia display and remote monitoring. Weexpanded some peripheral hardware resources including serial port, network and LCDinterfaces based on the minimum system consists of S3C2410X, Flash, and SDRAM. Ahardware module for conversion of RS-232 Bus to RS-422 Bus was designed. In order toresolve the RTC technicality, we designed a circuit board using a timepiece/calendarCMOS chip-PCF8563.During the design for the software platform, we analyzed and modified the systembooting program-Bootloader, and then ported Embedded Linux to S3C2410X accordingto the hardware configuration of our board. We modified the sound and LCD driverprograms in Linux kernel and added some necessary codes to make it compatible with theFilesystem type of Yaffs. After preparing the content of the root Filesystem, we added thecross-compiled Qt/Embedded libraries to it, and selected the Filesystem types whichcombines Cramfs, RAMdisk and Yaffs. The source-code-open multimedia player ofMplayer and embedded database of SQLite running under Linux were successfullytransplanted onto the embedded platform.We designed the GUI and data-acquisition module of serial port. The GUI is dividedinto six areas including the area of data-acquisition module, multimedia playing area,system time display area, text information area, scrolling text bar and trademark picturearea. We built an embedded Web Server on the ARM platform using Boa and then thefunction of the remote monitoring system was fulfilled. The system has been put into usesuccessfully and has a good performance on the elevators.
