The microstrip antennas and arrays have been widely used in communication, radar, remote sensing because of their good characteristics, such as electrically thin, light weight, low cost, conformable and so on. The major target of my paper is to research the columnar conformal microstrip antenna at the wavelength of 8mm. Firstly, the basic theories of microstrip antenna and the main analyzing ways are involved, then the basic theory of arrays which includes radiation characteristics of arrays, principal parameters, feed mode, impedance matching network and power dividers.Based on the discussion of basic theories, this paper designs two kinds of columnar conformal microstrip antennas which applied to fuze. Not only does Quasi-travelling wave line array achieves excursion of the major lobe, but also enlarges band. The planar array as the element of the linear arrays on the column realizes equal radiation on the fuze equator plane. Modeling and emulation are achieved with the help of HFSS. The results of emulation and measurement indicate that the designed arrays have good performance and fit the basic technical designing standard.Finally, the summary of the whole paper is put forwards with several improvements.
