Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) is a kind of high resolution images Radar andcan be widely used. It is free from influence of weather and fog. Objects is easy todetect in optical images. Integration the information of two kinds of image togethermay achieve a fusion image which has both advantages. In the paper comparisons andanalysis of SAR and optical image fusion by several typical methods of image fusionbased on wavelet transform are made. And evaluation of the fusion effects is givenusing various measures of image evaluation. Based on this, discussions on objectivecriteria of optical and SAR image fusion are made and some conclusions arepresented.The images taken by satellite sensor working in the visible band are oftentroubled by the cloud. The places of clouds in images of the same location are alwaysnot the same which are taken in different time. The fusion of these images mayremove the cloud. The other content of the paper is to bring forward an improvedfusion algorithm using wavelet transform. Remove the information of cloud which isconcentrated to the low-frequency section and keep the information of objects on theground which is more obvious in high-frequency sections after wavelet decomposition.Reconstructing the image by wavelet transform can achieve a cloud-removal image.The experiments show that this method is effective. Compared with the other method,the effect of this method is also having some improvement.
