Image fusion technology refers to the use of a specific algorithm to synthesize two or more images to be fused into a new image.This new fused image contains the important information of each image to be fused and is a collection of all the images to be fused.It has more clarity,more complete image description,more reliable data information,and more diverse requirements.As a very important branch of multi-source information fusion,image fusion technology has received extensive attention from researchers around the world in recent years.With the deepening of its research,image fusion technology has been widely used in remote sensing detection and medical imaging.,traffic management,information monitoring,military technology and other fields.In view of the enormous application value and research significance of image fusion technology,it is necessary to conduct in-depth research.In the future,I believe image fusion technology will have greater development.As a rapid development and popular research technique,wavelet transform has the characteristics of multi-resolution analysis and has been widely applied to signal processing,image analysis,computer application and engineering technology.Applying the wavelet transform to the image fusion field is an important development in the field of image fusion,and it is also a research hotspot in recent years.This paper mainly studies the image fusion algorithm based on wavelet transform.Firstly,the purpose and significance of image fusion are introduced,and the research status and future development trend at home and abroad in recent years;Secondly,the basic theory of image fusion is introduced,including fusion step,fusion level,fusion algorithm based on spatial domain and transform domain,and main and objective quality evaluation methods for fusion image.Then introduced the basic theory of wavelet transform,including Fourier transform,several wavelet transforms,image wavelet decomposition and reconstruction,multi-resolution analysis,several common wavelet basis,Mallat fast algorithm and so on;Finally,the selection of the wavelet basis,the number of image wavelet decomposition layers,the choice of the fusion rule of the high and low frequency parts of the image after wavelet decomposition are discussed,and on the basis of existing researchers,the image fusion algorithm based on wavelet transform is improved.Through the simulation experiment of MATLAB software platform,the main and objective quality analysis of the fusion image is performed.The common image fusion algorithms are compared and the superiority of the improved algorithm is verified.
