Nowadays, talk shows of various kinds and in various forms are just unfolding. The programs, whose subjects vary in accordance with TV stations and time periods, are available in almost every channel—national or local, domestic or overseas. When searching through the literatures, despite researches on talk shows cover numerous domains and are detailed, exploration on the show's competitiveness is rather few, or even blank. The writer of this paper is to, via large quantity of data analyzing, enlighten the present China talk shows on how to achieve positive operation and to raise the manipulation feasibility in future.This paper, selecting four face-to-face interview programs of CCTV, firstly presents the status quo of these talk shows within CCTV, then discusses the components of such shows and analyzes what effect each component exerts. Furthermore, the paper looks into the factors which influence the competitiveness of the CCTV talk shows, basing on communication studies analysis, such as the significance of communication, the process of communication and the effect of communication, and combining the analysis with the comparative investigation on data of viewership rate and share, viewer satisfaction and expectancy and data alike. The paper finally concludes how to take advantage of such factors to increase the competitiveness of the talk shows.
