At the same time, the IP network has been popularization and a lot of IP techniques are produced. Hence, the Next Generation Network is created which based on packet network and provides a lot of integrative businesses. Soft-Swtich is core technique of Next Generation Network.One of the worth applications for softswitch technology is IP fax that people receive and send fax on the Internet. IP fax is not only a challenge to traditional fax which likes new technology challenge old technology, but a kind of trend. It prepares to show the advent of brand-new communication ages. The transmission of IP fax is not on traditional telephone network but on Internet which can transfer fax to everywhere evenly and dependablely.Because IP fax uses packet-switch technology to implement multiplying channel, and network resources are made use of more effectively.So that the expense of fax is reduced consumedly. A lot of value-added businesses are also provided for the customer by IP fax which display the enormous advantage in efficiently and functional aspect to traditional fax business.Through the deep analysis of softswitch system based on SIP or H.323 recommendation, a scheme to realize IP fax store-and-forward technology is put forward in this thesis. Call control flow and process of fax store-and-forward are combined by this system. Proxy Server implements call control process based on SIP or H.323 recommendation. Media Server manages the store-and-forward of fax data package. Location Server realizes business logical control process of various functions for IP fax store-and-forward. The designment of fax store-and-forward system has high safety, plentifulness functions and designed sententiously. Because PS, MS and LS are independent each other, they communicate each other by using private message. So they can run on the same server or different servers and whole system gets away from restrict of distance and region. This system has strong practicability. The focus of this thesis is the research on whole flow of various businesses, and store-and-forward of IP fax package. In first, the backgorud and significance of research are introduced in this thesis. Second, the interrelated technique is expatiated. Then key design and realization of system are introduced concretely. At last, the enlargement of the whole function and some shortage of design in system are discussed in this thesis.
