With the fast development of Internet technology, WWW has become a main approach as well as carrier of gaining all kinds of information for people, which include Geographic Information. However, with the fast increasing and updating of information in the Web, which leads a coming time of information explosion, the search on Web is facing a great challenge, that is, the traditional searching method based on keywords is not so efficient and accurate for searching relevant information because the computer can't understand what information semantics efficiently. As a result, the web searching manner can't provide a satisfying service for people's searching on Internet more and more. So, it is a new domain for researchers to find a new way for web searching. At the other hand, the avidly using of WebGIS has promoted the application of geographic information on Web at a more broad scope. There is also a requirement for intelligent spatial-aware retrieval.A research on geo-ontology is the important content of Geographic Information Science and Digital Earth. Based on geo-ontology, the geo-spatial information semantic expression and the semantic searching becoming realization, and through the semantic description of service based on ontology, Web services can be automatic found out, composed, implemented and supervised, therefor this structure makes WebGIS show more energy.By the abstract of real geographic world and the analysis of geography cognitive process, this paper makes ontology as the formalized expression method of geography concepts and the relationship of these concepts; based on the theories about the geo-concept types, the geo-ontology semantic relationship and the ontology model based on Descript Logic; particularly describes the created steps of geography ontology; presents the ontology query schemas and the semantic query framework based on ontology reasoning; analyzes the semantic web service technologies, discusses the framework of semantic geography information service.
