The hard work of teaching-books management lies in the following reasons. Firstly, the majors of a university are complex and each major opens many kinds of courses in each term. Secondly, the business of teaching-books section concerns not only of the issuing agency but also of the teachers and students. The sorts of books amount to hundreds or even thousands and the copies to thousands or even over ten thousands which are put into or dispensed out from the teaching-books section in each term. So the work concerns a large number of individuals and is very boring. Compared to the past, this work is more heavy and boring because of the quickly increasing students. According to a survey, up to the present, the work of teaching-books management in many schools or even in some famous university is done by hand. This status quo meets the need neither of business of the practical teaching-books management nor of the tendency to construct information. It is urgently necessary for the staff in the teaching-books agency to hold a set of convenient and efficient computerized information management system which can replaces the boring and lower efficient management way by hand. The ultimate goal is the complete realization of automation of teaching-books management.With the swift and violent development of computer technology, a lot of organizations have progressively realized the management computerization of business information. Meanwhile, network education depending on the modem computer network technology with its advantages of opening, flexibility, popularization, and limitless by space and time etc., offers chance to anyone, in anytime, anywhere to receive and participate in education, which is becoming the effective supplementary means of contemporary education and is moving to maturity.The campus information system includes all fields of campus management, and its application is a great and complicated project. At present, every university has founded well its own campus network, which helps most of management in a school to be done on the net and provides convenience for the management. So regarding Internet as the center, resource-sharing system structure becomes the major direction of network technical research, and WEB Service based on XML becomes the focus of this kind of technical research direction. This teaching-books management system depends on the platform of the campus web, which is one of many campus information systems. The main purpose of this design is to complete the standardization and specialization and to do experiment and research in advance for the all-round implementing of campus information system in future.
