Network Fault Tester Feature Data Extraction And Software Optimization

Network Analyzer is a kind of device which aims to test, analyse and locate the problem of computer network. It can be used in the area of network construction, network maintaince and network analysis. It is highly demanded for the device's data analysis and processing capability, as the increasing network size and throughput.Characteristic data of network represents the status of a computer network. It is composed by faulty data and station information. Faulty data contains throughput, error packets, collision number; Station information stands for details of the station online.How to retrieve the faulty data from network is a key point and difficulty. We solve those problems by modifying Linux kernel. A new throughput module of kernel is added in to measure throughput of network. Some protocol stack, network device driver and kernel interface are fixed for error packets and collision number retriving.To fulfill the demand of increasingly processing capability, we developed a more advanced way to fetch and manage the station information list. In this way, the efficiency of station information collecting module is highly impoved. It has been proved theoretically and practically that the new method saves about 58% time.Developping of Network Analyzer is accomplished, when above problems were solved.
