With the development of microelectronics technology, LSI circuits and the integration level has been improved. The microprocessor, memory, DSP, and various interfaces can be integrated into one chip, which is so called the embedded system. This system includes software and all the contents of the entire system. The rapid development of microelectronics and computer technology led to the rapid development of embedded systems technology. Embedded systems with the features of small, easily portable, high reliability have been widely used in various fields.At the end of the last century, automatic meteorological stations built domestic often used import equipments or components; especially the sensors for collecting meteorological information. They were expensive. Nowadays many domestic meteorological stations need to upgrade equipments. The strict requirements for size and power consumption are need to be meeting for meteorological sensor. The embedded technology can be used with weather sensors.This paper mainly discusses the design of a meteorological sensor which is based on 32-bit ARM microprocessor LPC2101, involved in the research of key technologies and the realization of the program. The whole design is fulfilled with the linking of the hardware circuits, the composing and debugging of software code, at the very end accomplish the integration and testing of the whole system.This paper has three main objectives: the first is an overview of embedded system and the ARM processor, which includes general methods of embedded system and the selection of ARM7TDMI core based on the analysis of various features of the ARM core. The second objective is the design of the hardware platform, which includes the adoption of devices and the analysis of functions, structures and working principle of the main modules. The third one is the software platform designing, which includes the layout of DR, the clarity of a key part of the flow chart and part of the source core. After the completion of the entire design, the sample to be tested which meet the design requirements.The meteorological sensor digitization system based on embedded system with ARM kernel in the paper is suitable for other projects development, technology and has the important applied value to other embedded application system.
