Traditional CCD video systems are built by CCD camera, industrial PC and image gathering card. This technique is common as industrial PC being powerful and image gathering card can be bought here and there. The difficulty and important things of this technique are designing CCD camera system and imaging processing system. This paper mainly discusses our image gathering and processing technique in this way. However, the disadvantage of industrial PC and gathering card are also obvious, that is, big capacity, short distance. So, the paper come to the end of an embedded image gathering system based on ARM microprocessor and Linux operation system to make the system miniaturization, intelligent and networking. The system has the active meaning to expend the application field of CCD camera and enhance the flexibility. The dissertation mainly focused on the following research works:1.Analysed the imaging theory of CCD devices and color plane interpolation theory, then gave a technology of real-time color plane interpolation method for high resolution image; Discussed the balance theory of histogram and give a practicable expanding method of histogram; Researched the synchronous transferring method when gathering image, gave a high efficiency synchronous transferring way; Because of the powerful ability of Matlab in image processing, there is another additional part about using Matlab for image processing in Microsoft Visual C++.2. Designed a PC programme named CamIMAQ base on the high-speed image gathering card PCI-1422 of NI Company. The programme used RS232 protocol to control camera, The camera can working at 512 by 512 and 1024 by 1024 state, and it can gather 30 frames monochrome image per seconds and 6 to 8 frames colorized image per seconds respectively. Additionally, the camera can change its aperture or focus by coarse adjustment or inching using this protocol.3. Built the software development and running platform for the image gathering embedded system based on ARM and Linux. The platform included cross development platform, cross debugging platform base on NFS and MiniGUI image engine. Last, wrote a image gathering programme based on embedded Linux and MiniGUI engine.
