Graduation Thesis Management System (GTMS) is an important measure to realize informatization and networklization of teaching management. To apply the system to manage graduation paper, we can solve many problems that manual graduation- thesis selection causes, such as spending too much time, low work efficiency, and unfairness. Thus, it makes things extremely convenient for students and teachers, and obviously raises work efficiency.The essay deals with the problems of traditional management system of graduation thesis in Xichang College on purpose to realize informatization and networklization of management and to raise work efficiency and work quality. On the basis of deep investigation, we use B/S structure, ASP and SQL Server 2000 as tools to research into GTMS and to develop it, which accomplishes functions, such as releasing, selecting, and setting subjects on line, and put students' scores into database. Therefore, GTMS is of great importance for management system of graduation thesis of colleges and universities students'. The main content researched and accomplished reads as follows:1. The problems that will be solved are investigated in detail and discussed in order to realize informatization and networklization of graduation thesis management. It also deals with the developing techniques, design flow process, fulfilling techniques, testing method, and some crucial problems to be resolved in the course of designing and developing GTMS2. Teacher releases subjects on line: teacher puts paper subject,to back desk through web; after the subjects are checked by the authority they can be put into the database.3. Students select their subject on line: after entering his system by inputting password, student can see the whole subjects in the database. According to his specific situation, he can choose a proper subject. When the number of students who choose the same subject is larger than prediction, no more one can choose the subject.4. Student submits his selected subject and graduation thesis on line: after choosing subject, he can connect with his tutor to inform the tutor of his choice, then complete his selected subject and hand it in on line. After tutor's agreement, student begins to design his graduation thesis, finally submits his graduation thesis to his tutor, and waits for thesis defense.5. To manage defense record, defense grade and graduation thesis: these materials will be put into database, and cloned into disc.6. Inquiry system: teacher and student can look for materials of thesis, obtain statistical data of students' defense grade and that tutors direct students for graduation paper, etc., according to the topic of the thesis and the student's name.7. System maintenance: administrators manage teacher's ID and student's ID, and back-up/recover system data.
