Using the low voltage power line to communicate with high bit rate has become one of various developing broadband network for its convenient installation and usage. At present the BPL(broadband over powerline) terminal (Intellon 51X1) only provide user management protocal on MAC layer without network management protocal interface,so we can not manage the BPL network terminal at the network management station.Considering the present BPL terminal and its applied mode, this paper puts forward to design an embedded network management terminal. The terminal accomplishs to manage the BPL network equipments by means of the communication between its SNMP AGENT and bridge terminal on MAC layer. The network management terminal is based on ARM+uClinux platform and uitilizes net-snmp 5.0.9 as the developping software package of SNMP AGENT. This paper has presented the whole scheme of the network management terminal,designed the hardware system and BootLoader,ported uClinux to the hardware system and fufilled the software system.This paper discusses the whole scheme at three aspects: communication between the terminal and bridge terminal, the network management protocal,embedded platformAs for the hardware system,this paper presents the block and its leading module. With regard to the porting of uClinux to the hardware system, the design flow of BootLoader is given and some explanation of porting uClinux to the hardware system is referred. The chapter of software system is comprised of developping SNMP AGENT by means of net-snmp 5.0.9 and system configuring module.
