Moving dim targets detection in image sequences is always the emphasis and difficulty in the field of targets detection and identification. Because the target's area is small, its SNR is low and the target is almost submerged by background and noise, these all bring huge difficulty to detection. Now, almost all the detection arithmetics are for infrard image sequences, so, the aim of this article is to look for a new arithmetic which not only can be used in infrared image sequences but also can be used in visible light image sequences.Moving dim targets detection in image sequences can be divided into two stages commonly. Firstly the suspicious objects (SO) are extracted in single frame, and the stage contains background suppression and target segmentation. Then the real targets (RT) are extracted using image sequences, which is target detection.This article used the visible light image sequences data that acquired at Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) to research the method of visible light moving dim target detection. After studying some arithmetics being used frequently, this article puts forward a new arithmetic of moving dim targets detection in image sequences.In the stage of suspicious objects extraction, through research the principles of morphology and morphological filter, this article puts forward a new method of suspicious objects extraction, and this method combines morphological filter and heuristic processing (HP). This article compares the morphological filter with wienear filter, median filter and highpass filter on the condition that with HP and with HP separately, the simulation results prove that the morphological filter is super to other filters and the superiority of HP. To the question of structure element (SE), this article puts forward the method of SE selection, and the simulation results and experiments prove the method's validity.In the stage of target detection, this article summarizes the shortcomings of existing arithmetics, and puts forward the new mthod which we call track energy cumulation detection arithmetic based conjoint three frames target resegmentation. In this article the simulation for the new dim target detection arithmetic is done, and its performance analysis is worked out. The simulation results and experiment prove the new arithmetic's validity.The new arithmetic can be used both in dim targets detection and in point targets detection. The new arithmetic can be used not only in visible light image sequences but also in infrared images and SAR images. The research is of important theorical and practical value.
