The development of the modern advanced manufacturing technique bring forward higher requirement of tool design. The combination of tool design and computer technology, information .network become a new direction of tool design , intelligent become a important orientation of CAD study. Study tool intelligent CAD system have good to the design efficiency and accelerate tool innovation.This article exploits Tool intelligent CAD system based on Visual C++6.0 condition and UG platform, making use of object-oriented method . This CAD system use case-based reasoning, rule-based reasoning, the secondary development of UG. 3D parameterized modeling and database, brings forward integration of case-based reasoning and rule-based reasoning, Finally implement intelligent of tool design .The rule-based reasoning expert system establish a system which mainly use bring-rule, and subsidiary use object-oriented method and implement system reasoning mechanism which use rule-based reasoning and object-oriented method, implement explain system which use text and pursuit explaination.The case-based reasoning system mainly use object-oriented method, case expression is based on the exploitation a property of the case , use value vicinity to calculate the similarity coefficients, exert two learning way to modify the case, dividedly save the case parameter and the case model.Preferences technology is a problem which is put forward in CAD practical application. This system exploits 3D parameterized modeling module based on UG, use program preferences method, exploits secondary development of UG, combine the rule-based reasoning module and the case-based reasoning module, carry though dimension-driven by the result of the preferences, finally come true the3D parameterized modeling of tool design.
