OTHR has been gaining increasing prominence in early warning systems of long-range bombers and intercontinental missiles for such advantages as anti-radiation, anti-stealth, anti-low penetration and clutter suppression which are desperately demanded in modern combats. The low-data rate, low-detection probability and low measurement precision characteristics of OTHR are aimed at and three of the key problems in OTHR data processing, including track fusion, performance evaluation, system design and implementation, are studied in this dissertation. The main contributions are as follows:1. Due to the three-low problems of OTHR, tracking filters are prone to give rise to incomplete tracks. A track fusion algorithm for incomplete tracks in OTHR is therefore proposed. Based on multipath track fusion algorithm for OTHR, hypothesis probability is analyzed and then a threshold is set to judge the continuity of the tracks at certain revisit time. The hypothesis probability of those tracks that are considered seriously deteriorated will be modified. Simulations invarious scenarios have verified the efficiency of the new algorithm.2. A performance evaluation method for OTHR target tracking systems is proposed based on the study of related developments home and abroad. Firstly, the statistical distance between tracks and measurements is formulated and the source derivations of the tracks at each scan are further confirmed. Then, the source derivations of the tracks are determined based on maximum likelihood estimation principle. Besides, several indexes including track initiation probability, false track initiation probability and track lost probability are presented and their formulations are given respectively. The result our method gets in low target probability and high false alarm environment applying IMMPDA is quite satisfactory.3. Software design and implementation technology of OTHR data processing module are studied. The software is implemented with Tornado developing environment built in VxWorks operating system.
