Based on the factual application of the laser collimation and diagnoses system of the SG-III, the elements and architecture of "PC+ motion controller" and the capability and handling methods of NextMove ES is discussed and analyzed in detail. Then, on the basis of all these research , the step-motor's group control system of the "PC+ motion controller" was successfully developed to accurately control the collimation and diagnoses system. The architecture of the group control system was designed surrounding the NextMove ES .RS232,RS485 and CAN bus were applied to achieve the communication among the several controllers of group control system. By the serial-port communication mode, based on the communication protocol, Every FEP and bottom controller communication was realized, then to control the step-motors.In order to make sure the convenience and dependability of the group control system ,a mixed program technique was applied in the software design. In the bottom of the software ,multi-mission MintMT program was realized by language MintMT of the NextMove ES controller, which could communicated with the super-stratum software. On the top, the control system application software and each functional modules were designed by VC++. The overtime retransmit mechanism was applied to make sure the dependability of the communication, meanwhile, overtime waiting was calculated dynamically to improve the efficiency of the system. The software was designed with functional modules in order to improve the expansibility and availability of the system. The group control system was well applied in the laser collimation and diagnoses system of the SG-III system, the system designing technique contributed important reference value to design of the SG-III host computer.
