In this paper, the method of applying a group control system to the existing elevator system has been put forward after analyzing several group control systems.Firstly, the method of how to apply EGCS(Elevator Group Control System) to the existing elevator system and the general project are introduced. In this part, all the components of the EGCS and their function and the characteristic of elevator group are explained in detail.Then , after analysing elevator control rules and various dispatch tactic,the group control algorithm of EGCS is put forward which combines the selection strategy based on the ETA estimation and the allocation policy based on the continuous allocation. ETA estimation estimats not only the attending time of the new hall call, but also the delay that serving it will cause to successive unattended passengers that have been allocated to the same elevator.In succession, the design of elevator simulation software has been introduced based on the analysis of single elevator's components and the elevator's control logic, it can be used to validate the feasibility of algorithm. The hall call controller is simulated in the simulation software, which is used as a debug tool for group controller by offer an interface model to it. At the same time, some other problems are introduced and also simulated in the software.At last, the design of software and hardware of elevator group controller and monitor system are introduced. As the core of EGCS, group controller is used to control the operation of EGCS, the parts of hardware system and their working principles are described. Also circuit of interface of the hardware is described. Monitor system combines the following functions: parameter configuring, state monitoring and hardware testing.In addition, the application situation and operational effect are summarized in the last of the paper.
