This paper mainly introduces dual-beam passive detection system, which is used to detect tank and armored car.The system adopts a dual-beam method to improve the precision of radial location. And this method has solved the problem of distance, climate's great influence to the precision of location .Firstly, those such as the basic principle of the passive detection system, the limitation of the single-beam passive detection system, and the basic principle and advantages of the dual-beam system, are analyzed, respectively. Thereafter, signal characteristics of the system are analyzed, and the problem about how to choose the intersection angle of two beams has been solved.Secondly, the descriptive methods of two channel signals, as well as the relationship between them, are analyzed to construct a function model of the signal and to simulate the signal with MATLAB. Then those calculation methods are described and compared to propose a reasonable calculation method that can improve the radial localization accuracy. Besides, relevant calculation methods and how to realize them are briefly introduced. In the last part, an instruction on the design of the key components of the system is given. These key components generally include the antennas, analog-to-digital converter (ADC) and DSP hardware module, etc.
