Embedded system is a special computer system, which is based on computer technology and faced with applications. Embedded software and embedded hardware can be adjusted according to the demand of application, and can be satisfied with the criterions of function, reliability, cost, volume and power consumption of the application system. Embedded system can control or manage other devices. Along with the development of information technology and digital products, and along with the application of Internet, embedded system is applied in consumed electron devices, industrial devices, civil devices and Government Issues widely. With the rapid technological developments and the corresponding rise in the range of diverse applications, embedded systems are becoming ever more complex with ever greater functionality. In 21 century, embedded system will become one of the fast developmental domains.Our study base on a embedded system which we developed ourselves, on the developing platform which adopt Samsung S3C4510B and uclinux, the dissertation focus on the study of software developing. We start from configuration of the platform. Taking the application into account, we configure the platform selectively for the purpose that make the least modifiable to satisfy the application. After the configuration, we start to discuss on the software developing, the dissertation emphasis on the management of file system and equipment.In the part of management of file system, we take building JFFS2 file system in embedded uclinux system as an example, introduce the relationship among VFS,MTD and JFFS2,in addition we implement the JFFS2 on the platform, uclinux is a huge, efficacious and complicated operating system, for our platform it has a lot of superabundance, so how to optimize uclinux according to the application become the importance and difficulty in the development of embedded system. The optimize of the file system is the importance of the optimize of uclinux.
