Wireless sensor network is introduced to detect variable in certain regions, which are typically difficult to access to. It has been used more and more widely. And it has been an important research in wireless network. There are many characteristics in wireless sensor network. First, Energy of the network is limited .So it is the essence problem to realize energy saving. Second, it is based on data centric routing. And it is always necessary to aggregate data locally. Third, the network addressing is according to attribution of nodes. So it is needless to assign ID to every node. For wireless sensor network has so many difference from traditional wireless network, it is necessary to study special communication protocol for it.Two algorithms have been proposed—directed and region divided routing algorithm, a communication algorithm with data aggregation and congestion control. Directed and region divided routing algorithm was proposed for small and medium scale wireless sensor network. In the algorithm, directed information transmission and region divided method were used for in-network data aggregation, mobile nodes process and routing maintenance. So it has a good ability of energy saving and is easy to implement. According to the comparisons with flooding algorithm and ideal routing condition by simulation, this algorithm has obvious advantages in receiving rate and energy saving. A communication algorithm with data aggregation and congestion control was designed for large scale wireless sensor network. It provided some methods of energy saving, data aggregation , congestion control and so on. The algorithm realized congestion control and energy saving by the method of dividing region and aggregating the data with border nodes. It used three congestion control means to mitigating congestion and providing fairness. It has been testified by OMNET++ simulation.Firstly this paper introduced some basic concepts, principles and applications development of wireless sensor network.
