Soft Threshold Wavelet Domain To Box Filtering Algorithm In Scalable Video Coding

In network applications, one stream of digital video, even when compressed, can result in several Mbits per second. So, the scalable video coding was proposed to provide scalability and adaptability of video signal to adjust to various bandwidth and requirement of different user from different-structured networks.The scalable video coder is desired in a multi-resolution environment, which could provide the users with video streams with various quality. At present, MPEG and H.26x both include scalable tools providing video service hierarchies. The basic scalability tools offered are: data partitioning, SNR scalability, spatial scalability and temporal scalability. Moreover, combinations of these basic scalability tools are also supported and are referred to as hybrid scalability.Spatial scalability involves generating two spatial resolution video streams from a single video source such that the base layer is coded by itself to provide the basic spatial resolution and the enhancement layer employs the spatially interpolated base layer which carries the full spatial resolution of the input video source.However, in spatial scalability, some new items of redundant information has to be coded by the enhancement layer partially in account of the Block DCT used in base layer. It produces what is called blocking and Gibbs effects. The blocking effect caused by the BDCT used in the base layer could disturb the prediction result in the enhancement layer, which will decrease the encoding efficiency. We are exigent of a method to remove the artifacts to improve the quality of the image transferred to us.Thus If a deblocking filter were implemented to smooth the reconstructed image, the bad effect would be removed. We planed to apply an efficient deblocking algorithm to the spatial scalable video encoder for eliminating the blocking effect and performance a simulation in the future. The result shows the significant efficiency.
