Middleware In The Epc System

Applying RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) tag in Object Network, Compare to conventional bar code, and the RFID tag has several advantages. Such as faster scanning, repeatedly using, un-obstacle reading, huge memory capability, security. Especially, it has strong date collection ability and real time tracking function. So it can save those sensor date which it contains and information about products. At last, these tags can be written repeatedly.EPC is the abbreviation of Electronic Product Code. It is the exclusive and discriminated code which Auto-ID center distributes to every product. It uses a series of number as the representative of manufacturer, product type and product serial number which exclusively discriminate a product. And the EPC Code is saved in the RFID tag. The EPC system is a technology system which bases on the global uniform coding system. It uses network and RFID technology to identify, track and locate product. When every product attach EPC tag, EPC system will receive a series of EPC code in the process of produce, translation and sale. Every EPC code could tell us the attribute of product when it connect with manage software. In the whole process, the most important and most difficult part is translation and management of date. So, how to process those huge date in time is a difficult problem of EPC system middleware.In this thesis, SAVANT is explored and investigated according to the Savant Specification 1.0 which worked out by Auto-ID center in 2003 September. The main results are as follows:1.Reading and translating EPC correlative specification carefully, include EPC Tag Data Specification version 1.0, Reader Protocal, Object Name Specification, PML Core Specification 1.0, Savant Specification 1.0,especially the Savant Specification 1.0 and the base configuration, function design, date process and translate process of SAVANT middleware.2.Exploring and investigating the half-baked part of the specification. Designing not only date collection module according to the specification but also the filter module to improve the date process efficiency of system and meet the base need of application.
