With the development of power system, there is high demand for power informatization. Construction of high-efficient, rational automatic information platform of power network is exactly the important content of power informatization process. The power network automation of Panzhihua Iron and Steel Co. began from the end of 80s in the 20th century; so far, dozens of automatic systems have been established in different scale and for different use. Because of the lack of unified and scientific planning, these systems had some problems that the engineering levels were lower and the structures were confusing, which caused the information sharing to be very difficult. This paper discussed the problem, and put forward some feasible solutions, which could be used to guide project practices.Based on the situation of Panzhihua Iron and Steel Co, a series of reasonable solutions were presented combining with the power network production, under the guidance of IEC(TC57) series international standard'solution strategies for related problems.For substation layer, a feasible strategy for bad data grading handling and a practicable method to establish the uniform clock for the power network were put forward. For transmission layer, a technical scheme for establishing a scalable communication system was put forward. For control center layer, a practicable scheme was given for strengthening the interconnection of the main station systems and reducing the dependence on the master station systems.Finally, referring to the relative technical standard of IEC(TC57), the planning scheme for the power network automatic information platform of Panzhihua Iron and Steel Co. was given. And, with Publishing/Subscribing as a key data interface, the planning model for the power information platform of Panzhihua Iron and Steel Co. was presented to be the best solution to thoroughly avoid "information islands".
