The prevalence of broadband network contributes to the rapid progress of livebroadcasting systems. But the performance of existing live broadcasting systems mustimprove their scalability, robust and quality of service before coming to their own.The rapid progress of peer-to-peer technology makes it as one of the mostdisruptive tools for the construction of large-scale distributed system over Internet. Therefore this article discusses how to utilize the power of P2P in live streaming. Itdeeply studies techniques to build overlay network of well performance. It alsodiscusses how to exchange data between peers. At last, it implements a live mediabroadcasting system with short name SLOP. The main contributions are as follows.1. It proposes a topology aware peer selection algorithm with short name TAPS.This algorithm can improve matchness between overlay network and Internet. The simulation experiment of this algorithm proves that TAPS(10,40,MAX)can decrease 60% network traffic between domains of more than 30 peers.2. It also propose a least first and dynamic requesting scheduling algorithm. Thisalgorithm has low extra cost and high scalability. By the analysis of practicaldata, this algorithm decreases the load of source dramatically, and just brings0.500‰ extra cost.3. It gives a detail implementation of SLOP. This system utilizes a single threadevent driven mechanism and modularized pattern. So, this system has goodperformance and is easily to be upgraded.
