Using Rup Software Development Process Improvement Study

With the increasing requirement in software field, software organizations need effective methods more and more. However, the situation is not good as we thought. In fact, many of systems be canceled in developing or be delayed and out of budget. Systems often could not meet the needs of clients, as a result developers have to repeated over and over. To resolve the problems, some new methods come out. The most famous of them are: Capability Maturity Model(CMM) and Capability Maturity Model integration (CMMI) by CMU/SEI;Evaluation of software process: ISO 15504(SPICE, Software Process Improvement and Capability Determination);Criterion of quality control: ISO 9001;Trillium Model by Electronic Industries Alliance(EIA), and so on.This paper based on the actuality and future of Software Engineering, made the research work aiming at software process improverment:1. The explore about most popular CMM and CMMI model.2. The explore about software development using RUP.3. By combining develop process with CMM, bring forward improving development process.4. Bring forward the normativly administer to realization of each phases of CMM's KPA.5. By using RUP realize KPAs of CMM Ieve12 and leve13.Through research above, the article has give the essence framework using RUP, has explored the relationship between RUP development process and software capability maturity model(CMM)and CMMI, combine CMM with development process. Based on the frame of software process improvement, it approves suppose of software process improvement suitable for software organization, so as to raise the CMM level of the organization.
