The Infrared image enhancement is important in the area of night vision technology. This dissertation focuses on the arithmetic of image sharping .Using VLSI techniques and on the base of FPGA, an infrared image enhancement system and the detailed circuit architecture is established. The disadvantage of edge sharping and noise imported with existing arithmetic is also deeply analyzed in the dissertation. With the help of a great deal of experiment, an improved arithmetic is successfully applied in the hardware system. Not only the influence of the nonuniformity in infrared imaging systems is eliminated , but also the balance of image sharpen and noise imported is obtained. At last, the direction of the future researching work is indicated with summing up the experience of researching .
