Vertical carousel is a kind of important material handling equipment, it can save more space and access time than traditional storage device. In general, vertical carousel mostly has body framework. The main components including mobile carriers are installed to the framework, and the covers are fixed at last. Though the stiffness can be easily assured, it needs greater space when being covered. Vertical carousel without framework has been designed and produced abroad. The components are installed to the covers with strengthening rib and the covers take part in both covering and supporting. Otherwise, vertical carousel is a kind of serialization products, and it is designed according to the user's requirement in most cases. So the development of parameterized software for it is essential.Vertical carousel without framework was designed after the structure of that with framework was studied and the parameterized design software for it was developed. The contents are as follows: ①Vertical carousel without framework was designed. Its three-dimensional models of parts and assemblies were built on SolidWorks. And its static performance was analyzed with COSMOSWorks. ②The modeling features of SolidWorks were analyzed, and the most effective technology and method of the further development based on SolidWorks were studied. ③ The dimensions of parts and assemblies of vertical carousel without framework were computed according to the connection of components and were stored in the database built on Access 2000. The parameterized model building for three-dimensional models based on SolidWorks was completed with Microsoft Visual Basic.NET. ④ The vertical carousel's drawings were built on SolidWorks. The parameterized drawing for two-dimensional models based on SolidWorks was completed. At the same time, the contents of title panel were filled automatically.
