In order to improve the anti-jamming ability of phased array radar system, wide signal bandwidth is needed. On the other hand, In order to distinguish and identify the targets, and to solve the problems of radar imaging, phased array radar must have also wide instantaneous signal bandwidth. However, the instantaneous bandwidth of signals is restricted for general phased array because of its transition time and aperture effect. As TTD (true time delay) is utilized in optically controlled phased array at sub-array level to replace the phase shifter in general phased array radar system ,and make time delay compensation at sub-array level, which can reduce aperture effect considerably and make the broadband and wide-angle scanning of phased array antennas come true.Optical fiber communication is the foundation of optically controlling phased array antennas, so the performance of optical fiber communication influences the development of optically controlling phased array. In theoretically, analog optical fiber link can carry out the signal transmission transparently. However, because of the limit of the component level, during the transmission and distribution of the radar signal, noises and interferences from the optic-link may distort the signal and affect the system performance and the array signal processing.In this thesis, through analyzing the gain, noise and dynamic range of the analog optical fiber, the feature and realization method for each part of the optical-linking system are discussed in detail so that an optical-linking system with good performance can be obtained for optically controlling phased array.With the development of millimeter wave (MMW) technology, the MMW phased array radar has been studied and developed. In this thesis, the features of MMW phased array radar are discussed, and the effects of the non-ideal factors of the optically controlling MMW phased array radar are analyzed in theoretically. Moreover, the scheme of MMW optically controlled phased array radar is presented also.At last, the matching-circuit and APD receiver circuit are designed. The curves of the system are shown respectively.
