With the rapid development of digital multi-media technology, the broadcasting television system has been confronted with a great technology revolution—digital television technology. Depending on the advantage of higher quality programs and abundant channel resource, digital television provides highly advantageous condition for VOD (Video on Demand) service.In order to incarnate the interaction between customer and VOD system, a customer-connected system needs to be built in the VOD system. This paper puts forward the design and implementation of a customer-connected system for digital television VOD system. It uses PSTN, GSM and CDMA networks as the up-signal channel. The customer-connected system, which is based on CTI and SMPP protocol as the technology foundation and relies on the support of voice card and SMG, could provide two connected mode for customers. Using the system, customers could receive VOD service by dialing a special telephone number or sending a short message to service provider.This paper introduces the customer-connected schemes, customer requirement analyzing, the integrated system structure and related technology theory foundations by the numbers and expatiates the exploitation course, including database design, static model design and effective software implementation about the modules of this system detailedly. The final test shows that the customer-connected system designed and implemented in this paper could receive and dispose the order request of the digital television customers automatically. It achieves basically of the aim of this project.The customer-connected system could provide two schemes of customer-connected for VOD in unilateral HFC networks. It has great realism significance and practicality worth.
