It has been thirty years from the appearance of embedded system. Recently, with the development of computer software and hardware, the requirement of communication ability of embedded devices is higher and higher; it contains intercommunication in embedded devices, communication between embedded device and other industry device and communication between embedded device and Internet. As a result, embedded communication devices faced to all kinds of fields are emerging in multitude. The incorporating trend in computer, communication and consumption electronic is more obvious. The embedded technology combined with communication technology especially with mobile communication technology will accelerate the upgrade of communication devices and make them more real-time, reliable and intelligent. The embedded communication devices based on CDMA/GPRS attract people's attention widely because of their low cost, easy-maintain and widely-used.After analyzing the features of domestic and abroad congener, I design and implement a mobile communication device including full PPP, upper TCP/IP, data-transport function and routing function. The hardware of this device uses Samsung's SC4510B embedded CPU, Siemens MC35I/39I or Anydata CDMA wireless communication module; the software uses DeltaOS which is an embedded real-time operating system. The device also provides many configuration methods such as command-line, telnet and Web. At same time, it has perfect exception handling mechanism and can find hardware, wireless link and TCP connection exception efficiently with the help of hardware watch dog. It can backup data during exception period by backup link and resending mechanism; can make the whole system run continuously and stably by exception handling. Thus, limited hardware resources are saved. Additionally, the device has a RS232/RS485 interface through which industry controlling collectors or special detectors can connect to it directly.
