Experimental teaching is considered important in field of science and engineering. Compared with academic teaching it is more intuitionist, realizable and innovative. With the expanding of matriculate, there are more and more universities facing shortness of experimental resource in recent years. However perhaps the problem can be solved by sharing instruments through network, such as Virtual Laboratory on Internet. Built on Internet, the laboratory can realize the function of transmitting, processing and controlling of data through Internet. Virtual Laboratory on Internet is based on computer technology of the multimedia, network technology and virtual instrument technology. Students can enter Virtual Laboratory and operate instrument whenever. Those not only provide the condition by which a technology support for didactical innovation of experimental courses, but also provide more, newer and better instruments for students. This plays important role for the improvement level of experimental instruction.This dissertation has briefly introduced the production and domestic and international state of development of virtual experiment and virtual laboratory. The following tasks are finished:(1) The characteristic of Client/Server and Browser/Server, two kinds of network structure, is analyzed and compared with. Browser/Server mode is selected in this system. In some aspects, such as dependability, privacy, stepping the flat characteristic, software putting in a position, etc., it fits well according to the demands of Web based virtual laboratory.(2)Through the analysis of several key technologies of the virtual laboratory both at home and abroad, and through the computation of various kinds of popular technologies and software tools at present, this paper puts forward the solution: taking JAVA as developing technology of Client and Sever, choosing JDBC as development technology of data library. On the instrument control port instruments and computers have been connected by GPIB bus and Labwindows/CVI are taken as development tool.
