On The Evolution Of Archival Value At Different Stages Of Practice

The very long course of archives developing from germination to forming and finally being mature shows that archives is a humanized content rather than a natural matter. From its naissance, archives has a crucial relationship with human beings, which is called value. The value of archives is a very important topic in the archives of elementary theory of archives. Thus, to establish an objective and profound cognition to archives has extremely significance for us in understand archives and using archives so as to bring into play its particular effect.According to the new characteristics and new phenomena in our country's archives practice at present time, using the value theory of philosophy and concerning the relationship between subject and object, the paper divides the practice of archives management into three parts: amanuensis section, muniment room and archives library. For each part,the paper operates compositive analysis from three aspects including the scope and requirement of the archives value subject, the existence, structure and function of the archives value object, and also the specific embodiment of the value. Consequently,summarize the evolving regularity of archives value that the value is not a fixed static matter, instead, it enriches and deepens constantly according to the continuous development of archives practice activity, and it is a dynamic relation existing between its subject and its object. In another word, it goes as follow: on one hand, archives value has an excursion from instrument value to information value, on the other hand, it has a transition from an easy warrant system to a system of recording the whole human history.When archives represents its more information value and value of recording history in social practice, its essence comes together---recording the human history with information contained. The essence of archives value depends on the essence of archives itself. Therefore, it is concluded that the archives value, indeed, lies in the history and cultural value.
