The veracity of propagation model has an import impact on the reliability of WCDMA network planning. A more precision propagation model means a more precision coverage prediction of the base station and coverage rate of predict network. With the propagation model tuning, we can calculate the exact number of base station for the coverage target of the network. This thesis gives a brief introduction of WCDMA network planning and proposes the concept of propagation model tuning. Firstly, the thesis describes four models: SPM model, Okumura-Hata model, Cost-231 Hata model, Cost 231-WI model and ray-tracing model. With the theory and procedure described foregoing, we made some samples of model tuning for dense urban and normal urban. The result indicates that the relationship between antenna height and environment height has an effect on propagation model. Also in this thesis we have some figures indicates the mean error and standard deviate error showing in the result of model tuning simultaneity.
