With the development of economy, the management quality of enterprises has more and more desire, so efficient and economical attendance system has a broad market in our country.From the demand of attendance system, we have designed a kind of embedded attendance system which is based on ARM9 and Windows CE.NET. The system is based processing image information. In hardware, we use Sumsang S3C2410 which has a core of ARM9 and integrates many periphery chips, so it is a piece of processor suit for embedded products. In software, Windows CE.NET is choosed as development platform, which is an open, modularized, scalable, preempted, multitasked 32-bit realtime operating system designed by Microsoft company. With a complete operating system feature set and comprehensive development tools, Windows CE.NET can meet to the needs of development application of embedded attendance system. As the display platform of workers' information, Nokia3310 LCD can display the time of operation and the workers' numbers. Then the action will trigger cameras to take photos and these photos will be saved to a USB memory device and processed in order to check on the attendance. Besides, the system has some functions as for setting parameters, adding or deleting cameras, displaying status and so on.The thesis describes this field background and analysis the hardware and software structure, then offers an blueprint of the system layer. The thesis put emphasization on the detailed system design of several drivers and bootloader , customization of embedded operation system. It also gives instruction of ARM, EOS, Windows CE complier -Platform Builder and the resources of Samsung S3C2410 based develop board. The system gains the anticipant goal by debugging of hardware and software.
