With the development of the national economy and martial modernization, the importance of the range lidar system is enhanced. The traditional range lidar system is restricted to detect the distance of the object, and has some disadvantages on distinguishing and analyzing the object. As the primary research in the field, range imaging lidar can supply the gap. We designed a simulative system of scannerless 3D-range imaging lidar based on Pulse Amplification Modulation with APD to prove the new principle to satisfy the need of development of range lidar technique in this paper. The system emitted time-lapse laser pulse and used optical fiber with different length to simulate the object of the actual condition, and detected the laser pulse by the APD with high-voltage modulation. The distance of the simulative object could be figured out by dealing with the metrical data. The paper introduces the way of the principle of Pulse Amplification Modulation which is used in scannerless 3D-range imaging lidar, presents a way of theoretical actualization of scannerless 3D-range imaging lidar, and introduces the function and design of the parts of APD simulative system. The system which we designed is made up of system-control module, APD-integral module, LD-drive module, high voltage-drive module and fiber-coupling module, in which it emphatically introduces the software and hardware design of the control module of the APD simulative system, analyzes the components of the module and the principle of print-circuit-board design, and particular expatiates on the function and realization of the software. The paper also introduces the experiment of the APD simulative system in which we have demarcated the metrical curve, measured the length of certain fibers and analyzed the result of the measurement. The maximal distance which the simulative system we designed can measure is about 1000 meters, measurement precision is about 10 meters, basically has achieved the requirement which we designed. At the end of the paper, we have summarized the content of the system and also discussedthe improvement which we could put in practice in the future.
