Telemedicine offers medical treatment for remote area's persons by using telecommunication and computer multimedia technology. Remote consultation is an important research field in Telemedicine in recent years. With the development of Network and Multimedia techniques, it is possible to converse by face to face between doctors and patients. But how to make full use of Wide Band Network to remote consultation, and solve the problems of intercommunion by Audio and video and transmission of file and image are important questions for Telemedicine system.In the implementation of this system, All the functions of Microsoft NetMeeting are integrated seamlessly by using Microsoft NetMeeting COM. In this system, the transmission and the share of information are reunited according to the actual needs. It solves the incompactness between NetMeeting and medical system, and also avoids much research work in redeveloping lower level network service in this way. It reduced the periods of software development and improved the reliability of this system by using mature module. The system is designed with VC++ 6.0 on Windows 2000. Because the thoroughly use and design of the ActiveX controls and COM components, the system is not only outstanding and powerful, but also very robust.Desktop-based distributed multimedia remote consultation system is a cheaper, more efficient and convenient professional resolution. The intercommunion based on Video and audio and the synchronous transmission of file and image will help doctors make more accurate diagnosis. It also offers special support for the medical image's transform. It stands for the evolution in future of Telemedicine.
