Feng Qi,a famous official and scholar in the period of the Emperor Wanli,was born in Linqu ofShandong Province in the later age of Ming dynasty.His given name was Yongyun and courtesyname was Zhuoan He attached great importance to the practical learning in all his life and madegreat contributions on politics and learning. He ever compiled "Jing-Ji Lei-bian", a book of 100volumes. Considering rare academic research about him, this thesis tries to have an explorationto "Jing-ji Lei-bian"and attempts to comment on his thought on the basis of it .This thesis was divided into five parts as a whole, including not only his family background,the history of his life, his works the compilation of "Jing-Ji Lei-bian", its stylistic rules andlayout, values, its accomplishments, its edition and spreading but his thought of Jing-shireflected from this book. There will be a comprehensive research on Feng Qi and his workthrough five parts.According to the record of "Biographies of History", this article has a carefulinvestigation to Fengqi's family's social state, life and works at first. Feng family was awell-known cultural family in Shandong area during Ming and Qing dynasties. Hisgreat-grandfather, Feng Yu, his grandfather Weizhong, and his further grandfathers Weijian ,Weimin , Weine, were all famous for their standing in imperial, their poems and proses .As to theintroduction of the history of Feng Qi's, it is transferred with his official career, laying particularemphasis on the political conduct. To be practical is his main attitude toward learning. And thethesis briefly introduces and examines his main works, such as main volume of poems: " BoZong collected ", " North Sea collected " ; historiography work :" Song history ", books ofediting : " sea Mount Tai will collect " and " Feng five doctors collect " .The second part includes the process of the compilation of "Jing-Ji Lei-bian", its of materialrecourses and its stylistic rules and layout of compilation. This book is edited when he wasstudying and holding a position in the Imperial Academy. But it was not published until he died.The next year of his death, his younger brother Feng Yuan and his students Zhou Jiadong, WuGuangyi etc. published it.
