Large field of view panoramic image system has been applied to many different areas more and more widely. In the area of virtual scene, the audiences would have a feeling of being personally on the scene when their sight has been in the scene fully. It is well known that there is limit view in the image shot by a common camera, and a wider range view of image is needed .For constructing a larger field of view panoramic image, one scene should be shot at different orientations and the mosaic image is projected onto the screen. The panoramic image can only be displayed well at a special curve plane screen. The geometric distortion will appear if a normal rectangle image is projected to a curve plane screen, and the distortion can be corrected by the image geometric correction. The main task of author is to design a hardware system which can process the images timely with the geometric correction arithmetic. At the first, the theory of the image geometric correction is introduced in this paper. After that, the system scheme for video image geometric correction card is put forward. To illuminate the scheme, the basic operation timing of SDRAM, the DVI interface and the PCI interface are represented. Then the function module of FPGA is introduced. On the point of the specification of Bi-linear interpolation arithmetic, the idea about parallel process in FPGA for quickly random accessing SDRAM is demonstrated. At the end, the method of layout for high-speed PCB is introduced. The result of the experimentation indicates that the system has achieved the object of processing the video images timely.
