With the rapid development of Internet,people have more urgent needs ofnetwork in the aspect of bandwidth,performance and management. At thesame time,the Layer 2 switch can't catch up with these requirements.For theadvantage of its price and performance,the Layer 3 switch is becomingessential network interconnection equipment.And the research and the designof Layer 3 switch is becoming a focus nowadays.For Layer 3 switch,not onlyit's line-rate layer 2 switching and line-rate layer 3 routing all depend onhardware,but it needs to manage switch hardware itself.All these demandsneed the support of the switch driver,which is the key element for the wholeswitch system.According to the above,this thesis first describes the development processand the current situation of Ethernet technology,introduces the principle andtechnology of layer 3 switching.Then it makes a detailed analysis of theswitching structure and the data flows of the switch chip BCM5615.Accordingto these analysis,this thesis describes the implementation of a layer 3 routingswitch based on BCM5615.The switch driver system is divided into three parts:Hardware AbstractLayer,SSP and BSP.And according to the function of different modules andtheir levels in switch's structure,every module is implemented with differenttechnology.In the design and implementation,we analyze the inner structureof the module and the initialize routine,describe the design principle andimplementing method of switch driver in Vxworks circumstance.By using thislayer-module design,it can isolate the upper protocol module from the switchhardware,and let the switch software system have good portability andscalability.Through designing and implementing the switch driver system that candrive the switch hardware,shield the operation of hardware,and provide the...
