In this age of pervasive computing, the embedded system has already penetrated into all fields. With the big progress of hardware technology, the developing technology of software, has been the most important part of embedded system. Linux, a general operation system which is suitable for embededd system, can not only be set in a small system dealing with simple problem but also be combined to process complex assignment. Therefore, grear significance should be put on the research of emcedded system.In this paper, by analyzing the limitation of PDA application resources and the pecularity of linux and embedded system, the writer firstly put forward several important problems of applying embedded system into PDA .Then, considering the deficiency in real-time character of linux and the high demand of real-time feature of PDA, the writer put forward the percept of reforming the inner-core of linux by two ways to solve real-time problem. One hand is to adopt the up-to-date version 2.6 inner-core by software, the other is to use the technology of virtual machine by hardware. Since the user interface is simple, the writer adopted MiniGUI as the graph user interface. Then, the writer gave out his analysis on the theory, mechanism, design and application of MiniGUI in detail as well as the main design concept of the windows management.In the end, the writer introduced the points to be impoved and developed.
